American Songwriter Premiere: The Dirty Guv'nahs
“The temptation to live a secluded life is something that haunts most of us,” says singer James Trimble. “When life gets hard, it’s easiest to turn inward. The story in this song is of a father who stayed in that dark place for too long. He never sought out a community where he could share those struggles. After finishing this song, I shared it with my friend Amy Helm, from the band Olabelle and also daughter of Levon Helm, and asked her if she would add her beautiful haunting harmony to the track. Hands down, Amy Helm has my favorite voice in all of Americana music and I really hope to sing with her again sometime in the future.”
