FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SHEL & Kevin Dailey Team Up To Score New Facebook Watch Series, Queen America
November 13, 2018 (Nashville, TN) – Alt-folk sister quartet SHEL has joined composer Kevin Dailey in scoring the new Facebook Watch series, Queen America. Starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Queen America will make its 10-episode debut on November 18. In addition to scoring this entire series, SHEL will perform at the premiere party on November 15 in Los Angeles.
New independent studio, wiip, assembled the female-lead team of Meaghan Oppenheimer ( Fear The Walking Dead, We Are Your Friends) and Australian director and executive producer Alethea Jones in order to bring this dark comedy to Facebook Watch. "As soon as we heard SHEL’s music there was no doubt in our minds that they were the perfect composers for us," recalls Oppenheimer. "Their sound is unlike anything we’d heard before, and has elevated our story with their very specific brand of ethereal magic."
Nashville-based Music Supervisor, Anastasia Brown, recruited SHEL and Kevin Dailey (formerly of Civil Twilight) for this unique opportunity. "It has been my mission to create scoring opportunities for Nashville’s composers and musicians," reflects Brown. When Meaghan and Alethea created such a feminine, compelling dark comedy, I knew we needed to think outside the box for our composer. My gut said SHEL and Kevin Daily could capture the deep and conflictive emotions through music and vocalizations required for this series.”

About SHEL
SHEL's sound is filled with the hypnotic vocals and infectious rhythms of the four Holbrook sisters. The sisters meld together their classical training and diverse influences for a result that is mesmerizing. Raised in Colorado, they grew up on an old trailer park that the family restored and turned into a farm. It was an unconventional upbringing, but one that certainly contributed to the group's creativity.
SHEL has become known for its stunning musicianship with Sarah on violin and guitar; Hannah on keys, synth, and bass; Eva on mandolin and guitar; and Liza on drums, djembe, and beatboxing. The sisters have received rave reviews for their quirky style, both on stage and in their imaginative music videos.
The group has an extensive tour history across the U.S. and Europe, playing everything from small club shows, to major festivals, and even sharing the stage with world-renowned orchestras. SHEL’s songs can also be heard in numerous films, TV shows, and commercials including The Best of Me, The Fourth Phase, Charged, the trailer for Women In Sports, Shameless (Showtime), The Fosters (Freeform), Riverdale (Netflix), Search Party (TBS), and many more.
About Queen America
Set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Queen America is a dark comedy revolving around the triumphs and failures of Vicki Ellis, the most renowned pageant coach in the state, as she tries to mold the hapless Samantha into a worthwhile contender. It is a dissection of the American Dream as it manifests in the small towns of our country, where opportunities are scarce and beauty pageants are often a ticket out. But when she’s paired with the beautiful but unpolished Samantha, Vicki’s entire reputation is at stake.
Queen America hails from co-studio partners wiip, the new independent studio launched and led by veteran television executive Paul Lee, and Made Up Stories, led by top producer Bruna Papandrea. Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Casey Haver are executive producers for Made Up Stories, and Lee for wiip, alongside Guymon Casady and Suzan Bymel of Entertainment 360, and Janice Williams. Australian filmmaker Alethea Jones (“Fun Mom Dinner”), directs and executive produces all 10 episodes of the series.
